what a fabulous wedding day! filled with LOTS of love….belly laughs. and, there was so much for the eyes and souls to feast on, it was literally breathtaking. i am honored to have had the opportunity to be there. here’s what i saw at the end of my lens.
on a crisp october morning, in rural maine, i woke up to the most brilliant display of the colors of fall foliage right outside my window. i slipped on my Bean boots, grabbed a flannel, slung my camera bag over my shoulder, and headed out the door. it wasn’t long before i found the bride and a couple of ladies from her bridal party. “let’s go! we’re going to go find service.”, she said. Shortly after, we hopped in the van and headed several miles down the road until someone shouted, “I’VE GOT 3 BARS!” And, so began KGs epic wedding day.
it wasn’t long after contact was made with those still in cell service range that we swung the van back around, and rolled into the driveway of the cutest lakeside cabin. it was time for everyone else to slip their own Bean boots on, and for the wedding festivities to get rolling in full swing! the magic of the day was just beginning!
it was the very best start to the kind of wedding that was amazing in so many ways.
she said: what?
he said: if you would agree to marry me and be my wife.
and boy did they throw one heck of a wedding party! there are a ton of adjectives that i could use to describe these two on their wedding day: stunning. handsome. gorgeous. smily. happy. excited. but, as i made my way through the day, the one thing that i can say is that these two were: relaxed! I have never seen two people more at ease on their wedding day than Kin and Nicole. they were cool as cucumbers. taking the day as it came. a forgotten undergarment — no big deal. flip flops missing in action for a quick minute — didn’t matter. they were simply enjoying the spectacular weather and location of their celebration. having a good time with their friends and family…taking time to soak it all in and cherish every moment. it was perfect!
i was incredibly honored to have been there to capture their day in pictures.
congrats, Kin and Nicole. i wish you a lifelong journey together that is prosperous. full of love and laughter. and, that is rich with memories rooted in love, honor, and a fine sense of humor.🙂
here’s some of what i saw at the end of my camera. i hope you enjoy.
i’m telling you — first looks — they get everyone!
“…i promise to look for things before asking you where they are….” it may seem such a little thing, but it means so, so much! ;-)
it was an honor and privilege to witness the wedding of these two. if their bright smiles and sparkly eyes gave even the slightest hint of the journey before them, it will undoubtedly be full of love and laughter.
i’ve been working on editing some wedding photos that I shot a few weeks back for a friend and co-worker. he exchanged vows (very well written ones – i might add) with a most beautiful woman back in june. i was the second photographer for their spectacular soirée – a most enviable place to be because it gives me a chance to look beyond the standard poses. slow things down a bit. and, capture the ‘little’ moments that make up the day. (my favorites of all time, BT-DUBS)
fast forward a few weeks. work. life. dogs. vacation. family. chores. stuff happens. and then -everything gets real. someone – a beloved someone – passes away. my heart hurts knowing that someone is working to mend heartfelt rips and tears that happen when a beloved soul leaves this world before ‘their time’ and moves on to whatever is next. it is the single driving force behind why i do what i do (and for some very personal reasons).
goodness gracious my heart is hurting. my most sincere, heartfelt sentiments of condolences go out to my friends during this most difficult time.
it was awfully nice meeting nicole and her friends and family that gathered to shower her with the very best wishes and words of wisdom as she gets ready to say i do. here’s what i saw thru my camera on that very special day.
just in case you’re wondering, the ring = GORGEOUS
cell phones everywhere…seriously though, let me tell you about nicole’s beautiful mom. i stopped the whirlwind i came to know as susan as she was purposefully moving from room to room. eyes zeroed in on her next target. i asked her for words of wisdom; something she would share with a young woman about to say ‘i do’. she offered this: listen. do not jump to conclusions. be present. work at patience. you will struggle. and, you will succeed.
word is that the groom showed up to the bride’s work to assist with a software install. at one point, someone asked him: are you single? very shortly thereafter they followed with: did you know that nicole is single? and so began their story.
i know i mentioned that nicole has amazing friends. every single one more fabulous than the other. quite simply, i’m a sucker for smart, beautiful, funny, strong, spirited women.
the handsome groom stayed to celebrate. he was sweet and genuine when i asked him for his thoughts about all that goes into a wedding for a bride. insightful and wisely he offered this: be in the moment to just enjoy it.
oh ladies…i’m still giggling!
what better way to end the shower than with the bride handing over the cupcakes she made and the birthday gift she brought for Ashly.
congrats to you and your lucky guy. get it, girl!
