there shouldn’t be anything that keeps you from personally laying your very own eyeballs on the relatively small patch of california coast side known as BIG SUR.
rent a car. fill it up with gasoline and some (if not all) of your favorite people. time your drive so that you’re there in daylight. sunrise is good. sunset is best. if the temperature is right and you’ve got a sweatshirt on, roll down the windows. take really deep breaths. pull over on the side of the road when the mood strikes you (or you’re brave enough to get that close to the edge). get out of your car. look down, over the side. keep your eyes open. listen to the waves. don’t rush.
