when you’re in Paris, you’ve got to see the Eiffel Tower. actually, you almost have to go out of your way not to see it. i guess you could make it through paris without seeing it if you were walking around with your eyes closed all the time, or if you were always looking down. but given its rather spectacular size and scope, the tower is really huge amongst a city that simply doesn’t have anything else quite that tall. once you make your way up to the top, the views are nothing short of breathtaking.
before heading to lyon, we decided our last adventure in Paris would be a stroll through town to the Eiffel Tower.
while the tower is phenomenal, there certainly isn’t a lack of spectacular architecture to check out every where you look.
we made our way up to the top of the tower (well some of us did). and the views did not disappoint. the ride up takes you by one of the points in the earth which anchor the huge steel structure, as well as the mechanisms which bring the elevators up and down.
views from level 2. the river is the seine.
views from the tippy-top (aka the summit).
people ask if the view from the summit is any different than level 2, and I can say the answer is yes. the pic on the left is from level 2 and the one on the right is from the summit.
up next gare de lyon and lyon….
